One of the many perks of relocating to Marin County is the variety of outdoor recreation the region has to offer. Whether you love rigorous hikes or lazy afternoons on the beach, Marin County has a playground just for you. The region is home to several national, state, and county parks, such as the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which boasts the Muir Woods National Monument, one of the few remaining old-growth redwood forests. Also located within Marin County is the 2,571-foot Mt. Tamalpais, which is beloved for its hiking and biking trails; in fact, mountain biking as a sport was created on Mt. Tamalpais, when in the 1970’s, Joe Breeze and others built the first bicycle frame meant for off-road adventures. Since then, whether they are on foot or on wheels, Marin County residents have been able to traverse the miles of trails that take them through the region’s most gorgeous landscapes—from rugged coastal bluffs to green rolling hills and fragrant wildflower fields.
